How to: Prep for a date

The world of dating can be fun, adventurous, and also a little nerve-racking. To make it a little less nerve-racking, I am sharing with you all my date prep routine. These are the things I do the night before and the day of a date.

    Night before

    Skincare routine

To wake up beautiful the next morning, it’s important to prep your skin the night before. Doing so will give you a clean, fresh canvas that is smooth and radiant. Set aside enough time to give your skin the extra care that it needs. Don’t forget your face mask, and if you have any blemishes steam your face and give yourself an at-home facial. Only extract blemishes that you know won’t mark easily such as, blackheads. You can make the appearance of whiteheads smaller by applying a drying lotion or acne dot patches.

    Shower Routine

You must care for your skin. Having fresh, glowing, and soft skin is a confidence booster, and it shows people that you care and value yourself. You can either bathe or shower, but make sure you scrub your skin … one more time scrub your skin. Your skin will never truly be soft and glowing if you don’t scrub and remove all of the dead skin. After your done, while your skin is still damp, apply a generous amount of body cream.

Sleep is essential to looking and feeling your best. Try to get at least 7-8 hours of sleep the night before so that you wake up well-rested and refreshed.

If you don’t usually shave, this is the time to do so. As I mentioned earlier, this is just one of those confidence boosters. Knowing that your skin is flawless always makes me feel a little better about myself. You can either shave, Nair, wax, or whatever makes you feel the most comfortable. Don’t forget to clean up your brows and any facial hair.

    Oral care
Having pretty white teeth will have you smiling throughout the whole date. Take some extra time and whiten your teeth. I switch between whitening strips and charcoal powder.

    Nails and Toes

It’s the little details like your teeth and nails that people notice. I know it’s harsh, but women are heavily judged on how their nails look. I get my nails done every 2 weeks. I work full time, so I usually always have them done.

When I’m short on time and can’t make it to the nail salon, I always clean under my nails to remove any dirt, and then I either apply a clear coat or a chunky glitter polish. Having a clear coat on your nails is perfect because they look shiny, classic, and presentable. I like the chunky glitter polish because it doesn’t have to be applied perfect and it adds texture to the nail. Making it look like you tried when it took less than 5 minutes.

Afterward, you can apply a hand and foot mask to make you super soft! If not, Vaseline is always a good option and my go-to product. I will apply a thick layer and sleep with socks and gloves to lock in the moisture.

I don’t self-tan or bronze, but this is the time you would do so.

    Plan your look
I like to pre-plan my look based on the location and time of the date. I will search through my closet and find the “perfect outfit.” It’s important to make sure the outfit you pick is appropriate for the occasion. For example, if you’re going to have dinner at a 5-star restaurant, this is the perfect time to wear your heels and a sexy dress (not a club dress.) On the other hand, if you’re having a picnic in the park, it’s more appropriate to wear sandals and a flirty dress. Once you find your outfit, take note if you’ll need any extra pieces such as shape wear, nipple covers, etc. Also, think about how you want to wear your hair and makeup.

    Make a shopping list
Things happen, and sometimes you realize you don’t have a strapless bra or a pair of tights to go under your dress. If that’s the case make a little list of things you’ll need.

    Day of

The day of I take care of anything on my shopping and I also do my full skincare and shower routine.

    Get Cash
I personally like to have a little cash on me when I’m going out.

    Eat Healthy

You don’t want to cancel your date because of a bad burrito you ate during lunch. I feel my best and have a lot more confidence when I eat healthy.

    Oral care
Make sure you brush your teeth before your date and also do a quick whitening treatment if needed.

    Send a reminder
Send your date a cute little text a few hours in advance saying something like “I’m looking forward to seeing you tonight :)” (I only do this if I have gone on multiple dates with the person. Usually, I would advise to not go on dates with men who do not confirm plans the day of.)

    Last minute fixes
If you have any appointments such as lash, nails, wax, or laser make sure you are on time and out promptly. I would only recommend saving appointments like these until the day of if you know how your body reacts. Personally, my eyes are red and watery after I get lash extensions, so I would get those done before since I know I won’t be feeling the best. Also, it’s best to get these things done before just in case something needs to be fixed you’ll have time to change it.

    Pack your bag

This is something I typically forget about until it’s time for me to leave, and I can’t find my keys. I don’t carry a lot, I keep it simple and just bring breath mints, lippie, phone charger, and a small hair comb or brush.

    Good luck on your date.

    Until next time,

    Miss. True Class
