How to: Prep for a date

The world of dating can be fun, adventurous and also a little nerve-racking. To make it a little less nerve-racking I am sharing with you all my date prep routine. These are the things I do the night before and the day of the date.

    Night before

    Skincare routine
Your skin looks best when it is prepped the night before. If you wear a lot of makeup like me you know that your makeup and skin look amazing when you do your full skincare routine. Set aside enough time to give your skin the extra care that it needs. Don’t forget your face mask and if you have any blemishes steam your face and give yourself an at-home facial. Only extract blemishes that you know won’t mark easily such as blackheads.

    Shower Routine
Men are visual so you want your skin to look fresh, glowing and soft. It gives the impression that you care and value yourself. You can either bathe or shower, but make sure you scrub your skin … one more time scrub your skin. Exfoliation is the only way you will have soft, supple skin so if you normally don’t exfoliate please do (you’ll feel amazing). While your skin is still damp apply a generous amount of body cream.

Sleep is essential to looking and feeling your best. Try to get at least 7-8 hours of sleep the night before so that you wake up well rested and refreshed.

If you don’t usually shave this is the time to do so. You can either shave, Nair, wax or whatever your preferred method. Don’t forget to clean up your brows and any facial hair.

    Oral care
I don’t whiten my teeth every night, but I will do so if I know I need to impress.

    Nails and Toes
If you do your own nails, I like to do mine the night before so that it’s one less thing to worry about the day of. After your nails and toes are dry and it’s time for bed apply a mask. I love using hand and feet masks they make your skin so soft! Right before bed I also apply vaseline to my hands and feet and sleep with socks and gloves on so that the moisture stays in overnight since I tend to have dry skin.

    Self -Tan
I don’t self-tan or bronze, but this is the time you would do so.

    Plan your look
I like to plan ahead so based on the location and time of the date I will search through my closet and find the “perfect outfit.” It’s important to make sure the outfit you pick is appropriate for whatever the occasion. For example, if you’re going to have dinner at a 5-star restaurant this is the perfect time to wear your heels and a sexy (appropriate) dress. However, if you’re having a picnic in the park it’s more appropriate to wear sandals and flirty dress. Once you find your outfit take note if you’ll need any extra pieces such as shapewear, nipple covers, etc. Also, think about how you want to wear your hair and makeup. I don’t self-tan or bronze, but this is the time you would do so.

    Make a shopping list
Things happen and sometimes you realize you don’t have a strapless bra or a pair of tights to go under your dress. If that’s the case make a little list of things you’ll need such as Spanx, breath mints, no show underwear, etc.

    Day of
The day of I take care of anything on my shopping and I also do my skincare and shower routine.

    Get Cash
I personally like to have a little cash on me when I’m going out.

    Eat Healthy
You don’t want to cancel your date because of a bad burrito you ate during lunch. I personally feel my best and have a lot more confidence when I eat healthy.

    Oral care
Make sure you brush your teeth before your date and also do a quick whitening treatment if needed.

    Send a reminder
Send your date a cute little text a few hours in advance saying something like “I’m looking forward to seeing you tonight :)” (I only do this if I have gone on multiple dates with the person)

    Last minute fixes
If you have any appointments such as lash, nails, wax or laser make sure you are on time and you out in a timely manner. I would only recommend saving appointments like these until the day of if you know how your body reacts to it. Personally my eyes are red and watery after I get lash extensions so I would try to get those done before since I know I wont be feeling the best. Also it’s best to get these things done before just in case something needs to be fixed you’ll have time to change it

    Pack your bag
This is something I typically forget about until it’s time for me to leave and I can’t find my keys. I don’t carry a lot I keep it simple and just bring breath mints, lippie, phone charger, and a small hair comb or brush.

    Good luck on your date.

    Until next time,

    XO – Miss. True Class
